You know what would have proven to his kids that he loved them? Not just saying it, sitting on death row, about to be executed for a series of monstrous crimes. Staying with their mom, working to support them, raising them to be decent honest people, teaching them right from wrong, doing the hard work of being an actual parent. He didn't just cheat them out of having an actual father, he also gave his children notoriety, infamy, anger, and poor self-image that they will spend the rest of their lives living down. Now he doesn't want them to think badly of HIM -- that's the narcissistic thinking of a true psychopath. “He wanted his kids to know that he loved them.”

You know what would have proven to his kids that he loved them? Not just saying it, sitting on death row, about to be executed for a series of monstrous crimes.

Staying with their mom, working to support them, raising them to be decent honest people, teaching them right from wrong, doing the hard work of being an actual parent.

" Mildred probably cares .. she's personally glad she doesn't have to worry about him anymore and what he might do to her. And the first wife is going to bury him.
