These are two fairly different versions of religion which seem to be in sharp contrast to each other. The second video is a convoluted version of Christianity which endorses a ‘Send them Back with Love’ approach which appears quite different than the atmosphere that was evident at the recent VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement) event.
Here is one of the many offensive comments on a recent Greg Letiecq attack:
Bolstered by communists from Arlington and Alexandria, the large crowd asked Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart to provide more “affordable housing”, more ESOL classes, and taxpayer-subsidized dental care.

Wow, I just saw someone I know from Glasgow Middle School, where I was a counselor. I will tell you, this was an AMAZING video Alanna. I will absolutely not miss their next meeting. What a great message, there is no comparison, simply none. VOICE has a message of unity, a message that urges us to remember we are all interconnected, no matter our personal faith, color, or ethnicity, that might otherwise divide us, but under this message, we are all brought together. I actually feel sorry for Corey, sorry that he clearly missed this opportunity to be a better person, to show us the real Corey that I know exists underneath all that politiKing.

I agree and while I had to shut down my computer ONCE again ( virus) I had jotted down a note that FAITH cannot be compromised!
Faith has to be RESPECTED. It is not bought or elected. It can be strengthened or weakened in the process-just like this trying to come together in the COMMON ground of GOOD.

The bottom line is that we have to RESPECT different religions. IF that were POSSIBLE, we would NOT have the need for POLITICS.

I prefer VOICE to Gospel Greg, surprise surprise (didn’t watch the Gospel Greg video again because I couldn’t stomach it).
After seeing this video it is all the more disgusting that Greg called all 2,000 of these people “Communists” yesterday on his blog. There were a lot of other disgusting lies about VOICE, a lot of them disproved by this video.
Also, it is even more clear to me how out of line Corey Stewart was flipping these people the bird.
The first video is about people living their faith. The second video is about one person’s version of what he thinks God thinks.
No one KNOWS what God thinks. It probably never occurs to GL that he could be wrong.
I felt sorry for McCain on several occasions. I just hope he makes decisions that preserve his dignity over the next month. There are some things worse than losing.
I am not a religious man, but I prefer to see spirituality used to do good instead evil.
The people who brought VOICE together should be credited with forging a coalition that is broadly inclusive, bipartisan, and humble in agreeing upon goals that are reachable, unifying, and productive.
The way Letiecq twists the Bible in that video is disgusting. It was the unmasking that spelled the beginning of the end for TheGregNCorey Show’s reign of terror.
In recent months, I have never been one to pass up an opportunity to criticize Corey Stewart. But I must admit his answers were truthful. He could have lied after all.
And while abortion was the core issue that made me a Republican, I have long agonized when I saw the faith and good hearts of Americans abused by politicians who have all together different motives in bringing the issue to the forefront. This is the height of manipulation, and this is what I thought of when I saw Corey Stewart lug the abortion issue into the room in desperation.
Even the great and grand abortion issue cannot save a politician who has lost the faith of his constituents.
Someone obviously needs to invite Greg L. over to view the first video. He needs to see the many people of many faiths coming forward, offering money from their houses of worship for this endeavor.

WHWN, Abortion simply had no place in the discussion that day. It wasn’t on the agenda. I keep thinking about John Stirrup hollering (rather hysterically I might add) “Point of Order, Point of Order!” when John Jenkins tried to make a budget comment last spring.
Corey got booed because:
1. his reputation is bad
2. abortion wasn’t a topic on the agenda
3. He was using it as leverage
4. Not all people of faith agree on abortion and especially its place in politics.
#4 probably had the least to do with the booing.
That first video….so incredibly moving…..so beautiful….so hopeful. So the opposite of all the ugliness we have seen in this county, in our local leaders, and in the hate groups.
I only wish I could have been there.

This first video is spiritual, and the second video was more in the spirit of a scary holloween.
I think Greg forgot two basic teachings in the Scriptures and what I think God would have us do.
“Love one another as I have loved you” and “What you do unto the least of these you do unto me”. It does not matter whether one is a believer or not everyone should live by these guidelines. They are not rules or laws. They are the ways we should be living.
V.O.I.C.E. is exactly what God wants us to be doing.
The first video is a beautiful evocation of what it was like to be in the room that night. The second video is shockingly distasteful. Greg Letiecq and Corey Stewart should bury that video and never bring it up again. What were they thinking? It offends me to the quick. Any leader, elected or otherwise, who tries to use religion to turn brother against brother is a dangerous false prophet.
The VOICE video brought tears to my eyes. After so much hatred and division in this county, to see the words “Prince William, VA” introduce such a beautiful and soulful gathering just filled me with hope for the future.
Of course, Greg Letiecq is going to call them all communists (how many denominations was it that he’s calling communists by the way). These are the people who have blocked his path to power.
The “Gospel Greg” video was what proved to me that this “Immigration” fight was never really about immigration. It is some strange lust for power and attention that has taken root in Greg Letiecq’s ego and that of Corey Stewart. John Stirrup is somehow lurking in the background most of the time. His motives seem to be more pure, though still distasteful, in that they are racially motivated. What the Gospel Greg video proved was that for Greg, any form of intolerance would do, as long as it gave him power to funnel votes and money to the Republican party.

About ESL: I was surprised to find so much ESL in the county. NOVA has about ten classes for ESL. The public library has classes. Manassas Baptist and other churches.
At Grace UMC we have 100 students this semester. There are maybe two dozen volunteers spending two nights a week teaching English to men and women. One of the volunteers is just enamored with the students.
And in the V.O.I.C.E. video there are plenty of people who took the time to show up and make expressions of togetherness. Between all the ESL volunteers and the people at the V.O.I.C.E. gathering, the number of people must surely outnumber members of HSM.
The sad thing is that the media isn’t going to cover a story about a cotton-topped retiree teaching English to immigrants in a church basement on a Monday night.

I have seen videos where Help Save Manassas had 100 people at least at one of their meetings. But this was at the height of the Brown Scare last fall. And one thing I noticed about the Help Save Manassas congregation: it was the least diverse least inclusive group of people I have ever seen. Not just that they were all white, but that they were all white and over 60. That’s not what I saw at VOICE. It was all ages, all races, and all religions. I prefer the latter. It’s the 21st century, PWC. Wake up!

I think Gospel Greg SHOULD apologize for calling every church under the sun and all their members communists. I think the religious leaders should demand it. They might not realize it, but just by being on the side of justice, inclusion, unity, and sound government policy, they have provoked the bully of the bathroom wall into attacking them. This is a term that developed on this blog when we were recalling the mad stampede to war in Iraq from 2002-2003. At one point, someone from the French government apparently questioned the “intelligence” that said Saddam had WMD’s pointed at American cities and he had participated in the 9/11 attacks.
The ghoulish war hawks in Congress, included John McCain who told us the anthrax attacks came from Iraq, began assaulting the French government, French people, anything French, etc.
They demanded that we officially change the name of “french fries” to “Freedom Fries” as an act of patriotism and solidarity with our President who was fearlessly leading us into the wrong war in the wrong place for no good reason.
Some Americans, most of them Fox News fanatics, decided to do just that.
We call them Freedom Fry Voters because anyone who would do and say something that stupid just because a Republican politician or a Republican News Channel told them too is probably willing to believe just about anything. In other words, easily manipulated and voting Republican no matter what reason they are given, but they prefer a reason that has to do with hate.
If you recall, John Kerry was accused of being French during the 2004 election.
But since then, hatred of the French has died down, probably because 75 percent of the U.S. now realizes the French were right and the Freedom Fry President was wrong.
That is really fascinating Mackie. Every time the facts are revealed, we find out that once again these hateful anti-immigrant types have been lying to us. As we speak there are pundits out there blaming the housing crisis on the fact that ethnic minorities were able to buy homes (meaning that they shouldn’t have been able to do so, since few of them can afford to keep up with mortgage payments).

Here is an article I found concerning back in August about the FDIC and I just can’t help thinking if the FDIC was considering borrowing money, WHY would one of the ’sweeteners’ of the bailout package INCLUDE upping the FDIC insurance from 100k to 200 or 250k? The treasury sounds like the communist/socialist with all the NEW UNELECTED power too….this is scary!

Red Dawn, I don’t know the first thing about economics. I just know the DOW is what people measure the economy by and has been ever since it went from 4,000 to 10,000 during the Clinton years. The DOW was the reason he got reelected and that was good enough for me. Now that it’s going back to 4,000 again apparently, I’m just trying to figure out how that effects me. I think some (more right-wing) Republicans are panicking. It is no longer enough to demonize liberals…the term doesn’t go far enough, and some are desensitized to it. Now they are reaching even further left. It’s like if you don’t agree with them, then you are immediately baptized a “socialist” or a “communist.” There are about a million pundits saying crap like this on Fox News right now, as well as on other stations. It would be a lot funnier, if there weren’t the afore-mentioned Freedom Fry voters out there eating up all the nonsense they can stomach.
The DOW is only 30 companies. That is a mighty piss poor way to gage the economy. The S & P gives a better overall picture simply because more companies are involved.
Having said that, all the indices just suck. It is horrible. Heavy volume today with people buying up what they perceived as bargains. Perhaps they know something the rest of us don’t.
No one knows what the bottom is. P/E ratios should be around 10 though in a bad bear market. It will go back up though. Eventually. People are afraid.

I don’t know if it’s panic or what that makes Gospel Greg (and John McCain’s brother) try to use the word “communist” to harvest hate for political capital. It really seems out of touch with current realities. If you look at what John McCain himself is doing, it’s quite obvious the best way to harvest hate is the word “terrorist.”
“Communists” were scary in the 1950’s and 1960’s. “Terrorists” are scary today. This guy Bill Errors would have been called a “communists” back in the days when he was actually a radical anti-war person. Today, they call him a “terrorist.” Why? Because that’s how you make people afraid. And when people are afraid, they are willing to eat Freedom Fries and hate who you tell them and vote how you tell them.
Here’s the problem. The only people still listening to Greg are already filled to their eyeballs with hate. Considering the economic and national security disasters of the Bush/McCain approach to government over the past 8 years, the only voters who are even considering John McCain are half to three quarters Freedom Fry.
That means that McCain doesn’t need to call Obama a “communist” OR a “terrorist” to get their votes. They’re ALREADY NOT VOTING FOR HIM BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!!!!

Well, the Bible which I believe in states quite clearly that Satan was a fallen angel. Was “Barack Obama” ever an angel? Well, I kind of doubt it. If you ask me he has the mark of Cain!
Barack Obama is no angel. He pals around with terrorists. He sits and prays with those who hate America. He eats at restaurants with child molesters. Barack Obama is the kind of guy who once got on an elevator and chatted with a group of performance artists who had urinated on an American flag.
Not the kind of guy I want to see as Commander-In-Cheif!

How ironic that John McCain and Greg Letiecq are both getting skewered for using “ist” words instead of rational arguments. McCain and his nasty rich-girl wife sure have gotten down and dirty in recent weeks. I had never seen that side of him before. Sarah Palin ends up looking like a decent person compared to rich girl Cindy.
No. Palin is the more disgusting person. Cindy was born rich. Palin has made herself into a hateful and lying politician who abuses power and abuses the public trust.
