I for one have never asked for that. I have specifically asked, time and time again, for the 287g program to be handled through the jail. I want more personnel for this program. I want those who are administering it not to have 60 hour work weeks. Most importantly, I want criminals off the street. That means citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal immigrants. Currently, our county cannot afford to keep the Criminal Alien Unit up and running. The supervisors say that we cannot afford dashboard cameras. If we cannot support our officers with the tools they need, I do not want to send them in to these uncharted waters without the equipment they were promised. Some of our supervisors feel they must stick to the full resolution because of political alliances and pressure, even though the county cannot afford this. As I have stated in other posts, education takes a beating, 85 people lose jobs, and so on. HSM wants to 'win' at any cost, even if it means destroying people's lives to do it. I see nothing conservative about destroying people or getting things you cannot afford. That is what caused much of our economic woes around here in the first place.
