‘Welcome To Da Hood, Boyz’ Double Huh?
Anyone familiar with Manassas knows an airlift between Stonewall Jackson Highschool and Prince William Hospital is ludicrous. What, they’re going to call a helicopter to transport someone the 1/8th mile between these two locations? So in addition to having an 18 year old ninth grader, I would question the necessity of an airlift.
Here’s the quote from bvbl.net -

Meanwhile, a different sort of thug culture was on display at Stonewall Jackson High School where an eighteen year old ninth-grader (huh?) by the name of Keith Diego Cano Anaya was arrested for inflicting head injuries on an unidentified fifteen year old ninth grader in an after-school altercation so severe that the victim required an airlift to Prince William Hospital.

BWAAAAAAAA-hahahahahahahahaha
Up/down.
Would someone like to run a map by THE GREAT OTHER’S house?
SJHS—–> hospital
To be fair to GL, the media reported that the teen was flown to a local
hospital. It could have been Inova Fairfax, I think they are the
regional trauma center.
I know GL can be a little hysteria-inducing but don’t be so quick to
jump on him. I checked out the link he posted in the blog entry:

Freshman arrested after school fight
An 18-year-old Stonewall High School freshman was arrested Friday for a morning fight in which a fellow freshman needed to be flown to a local hospital for non-life-threatening wounds, Prince William County police said.
The ninth-graders had a fight stemming from an ongoing dispute, and the older student punched the 15-year-old and “threw him to the ground causing head injuries,” according to a police report.
Keith Diego Cano Anaya, 18, of Manassas was held on a $10,000 bond for a charge of malicious wounding, police said.

They would have air lifted him to the TRUAMA center at Fairfax hospital. Thats where people go with SEVERE or LIFE threating injuries.
My daughter goes to SJHS and she hadn’t even heard about it. The article did say that the boy’s injuries are not life threatening.
Green,
It goes back to give a little, get a little. People here will be fair (or more fair) to Greg L. when he becomes more fair and more truthful. It really doesn’t take much talent to spin an ordinary event into something highly sensational.
I agree Anon-100,
It all sounds very strange and why is Greg even reportng on it, once again trying to make all hispanic sounding names appear to be gang related at the very minimum, criminals. No one gets “flown” anywhere unless it’s life threatening!
Also this happened at Stonewall HIGH not Stonewall MIDDLE. Stonewall middle is 6-8th and the h.s. is 9-12th. But this isn’t from the BVBL, he got this story from the Gainesville Times see http://www.gainesville-times.com/news/2008/mar/29/stonewall-middle-student-hospitalized-after-fight/
A friend of mine is a medevac nurse and INOVA Fairfax is the ususal destination.
IT,
I am sick and effing tired of seeing our county trashed at each and every turn.(Schools, students, police chief, elected official, our county as a whole).
Didn’t the say the article boy suffered head injuries? I think that would probably be cause for Medvac to Fairfax Hospital.
Head injuries could be stiches for all we know, we really don’t know any of the actual details. But medivac has got to be pretty darn life threatening injuries and yet the article clearly stated the opposite. I wonder how well researched this story actually is from the reporters perspective. The main issue I have with this story, is once again, Greg has chosen a headliner with a hispanic surname. If Greg were interested in giving the full story in PWC regarding crime, he would post ALL the crime committed, not JUST by hispanics. This ploy has been done with EVERY single scapegoated group, it amazes me that people still fall for it. I too am sick and tired of my county looking like there is nothing positive going on too. But, honestly, there isn’t much positive going on Ruby, that IS the problem.
Ruby, I agree. I am sick of hearing from the OTHER how lousy everything is. He is going to trash everything around him and yet there are a pack of fools who still believe every piece of dog crap that comes out of his mouth.
IT,
True we don’t know how much investigation was done. The are many horrific crimes committed by indivuals from all walks of life, religious beliefs, nationality, race, etc. There’s bad apples in every bunch. Your point is well taken with regards to not much positive going on. With that being said I must say I have seen with my own two eyes improvement in the Manassas area of the Gainesville District.
Moon-howler,
Is it a full moon anytime soon?
Ruby,
I saw shoes tonight that you would have loved. Click Click Click. Full moon just was over.
Let’s make a post with everything GOOD about PWC. We can all add to it. NO GL’S or HSM’s ALLOWED!
Wanna do it, Admin?
kgotthardt
I am willing to do it:) have/had been.. …. so is Ruby, Moon-howler,etc….
I should not ASSUME they would, but I am a betting woman …lets roll the dice
I’d like to see what other people think is positive about the county, even if others don’t agree!
redawn and kgotthardt,
You rolled snake eyes here. Holler when the thread is up.
Admin,
You accuse Greg of jumping the gun and making accusations, well the story of the student being airlifted was in the newspaper. You owe Greg an apology on this one. Check the link for details:
http://www.examiner.com/a-1308744~Police_Blotter.html
I bet the student wasn’t airlifted from Stonewall High School to Prince William Hospital. I don’t think helicopters are involved when the distance is that close. I could be wrong though.
Why doesn’t Greg leave PWC. Can’t figure out why he stays.
Suggest GL move to Arlington. That should put him over the edge, huh?
SecondAlamo-
The devil is in the detail, BVBL reported the victim was air lifted to PRINCE WILLIAM HOSPITAL. That is what I find absurd. The two locations are too close together, that either locations (Stonewall Jackson Highschool or Stonewall Middle School) would require an airlift for a 5 minute drive doesn’t make sense. Imagine the helicopter would be doing a little hop over to the hospital, why bother? I don’t doubt that the victim was airlifted to A HOSPITAL just not PRINCE WILLIAM HOSPITAL.
