Higher education clarifies in-state tuition for children

March 14th, 2008 admin 4 comments

This is what I was told by a reprenstative from the Virginia Dept of Higher Education.   There is a conflict between State Law and Federal Law.  The Attorney General and the Dept. of Higher Education agreed on this compromise to ensure that children who ARE citizens will “most likely” qualify for in-state tuition.   The understanding is that if a child is a U.S. citizen, and THEIR domicile is proven to be Virginia, then they “should” still qualify for in-state tuition, despite the undocumented status of their parents.  He expressed disappointment that the Post writer had seen this resolution as a negative and not a positive.

‘Illegals Abandoning’ US Citizen Children

ASmith1 is correct. Council LaRaza conducted that study less than 4 months ago whoich was reported in the WAPO and, more accurately, in the Wash Times.

Council LaRaza found that more than half of the illegal alien (a US Federal legal term) population, if deported, would abandon their US born anchor babies and require the US government to spend hundreds of billions on welfare and child care support for the abandoned anchor babies.

That speaks volumes about the “high moral character” of the illegal alien parents (high moral character being a prerequisted for citizenship) – “let’s jump a fence 30 minutes prior to delivery, have an anchor baby for nada, then dump the kid on the taxpayers because the gringos are stupid enough to pay for it.” That’s the level of fidelity this nation gets from the illegals.

The 14th Amendment says “subject to jurisdiction of” which does not inlcude illegals. The 14th Amendment also excludes “diplomats and their children” as well as “foreign nationals” who show their loyalties to a Foreign Government…like all the Mexies W/o Borders and the salvadorans who protest in our streets under their nation’s flag. They and their anchor babies are exempt from birth right citizenship.

This shouldn’t really need an explanation but obviously it does. ‘Illegal immigrants’ came to the United States for various reasons but one common reason was out of necessity. There were no jobs in their countries. When there’s no work, there’s no pay, when there’s no money, there’s no food, clothing, lodging etc… Now, faced with deportation would it be logical to bring their children into that environment?  These are US Citizens who are entitled to an education, lodging, clothes, food etc… So the stupidity to suggest that these children are being ‘abandoned’ by their parents is insulting to rational people.  Let me explain – these children are being left here because it’s in the child’s best interest and not because they “no longer serve any useful purpose.”

NYTIMES: The Road to Dystopia

According to the New York Times article – ‘The Road to Dystopia

This is a country that runs on routine amnesties. Where would the courts be without plea bargains, or state budgets without periodic tax forgiveness? Are illegal immigrants the one class of undesirables for whom common sense, proportionality, discernment, good judgment and compassion are unthinkable?

It is frightening to think that this country’s answer could be an emphatic yes.

Here you go we have routinely done amnesty. I’m not saying that it is right. And it probably does encourage more illegal immigration. But where is our (USA) culpability in this situation? Don’t we bear any responsibility for its creation? What I see happening is a country willing to blame someone else and not own up to their part of the problem.

Children who are citizens are being denied higher education!

March 14th, 2008 admin 26 comments

I could NOT believe what I was reading this morning in the Washington Post, how low can we sink as a society?  Chilren, born in the U.S., will now have to prove the status of their parents.  Yes folks, not THEIR status, but their parents.  What have we come to in Virginia that children will be denied an education, not based on their merit, but based on their parents status?  What I would like to know is do all children get this requirement letter, or just the ones that have hispanic surmanes?  It isn’t that they are denied admission mind you, I guess technically they can still attend, but just have no way to pay for their education.  I am outraged, just outraged!  I am looking into who we should contact, the Govenor’s office was not helpful at all this morning.  I will follow this trail and when I find out more, will be sure to share.

“When Nelson Lopez applied to Virginia colleges this year, it never occurred to him that he might not be considered a state resident. After all, he has lived in the state since he was a baby, holds a voter registration card and will graduate this spring from an Alexandria high school.

Then last month, he got an e-mail from the University of Virginia: If he wanted to be considered an in-state student, he had to prove that his parents are in this country legally.

Lopez, 18, was born here — he’s a U.S. citizen. But his parents are illegal immigrants. ”
