I feel strongly that Chief Dean should have the cameras and accompanying equipment. In the first place, full police funding was promised. In the second place, cameras keep everyone honest. Thirdly, cameras will save money and protect the county from frivolous law suits.

Anything that is opposed on bvbl must have some merit. There is much naysaying about the camera cost at the moment. I am guessing that the software, the personnel to view footage and to handle data have not been factored in. As any photographer knows, the basic camera is simply the tip of the iceburg.

The honorable said he wants to wait on the camera equipment. I would like to bombard all the supervisers and let them know that if we are going to take on such a bold move like the resolution, we need to protect our police, our residents, and our county from unwarranted lawsuits.

Mrs. Admin, please provide that contact the supervisors like again. Thanks.

I do not know. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I would hope that all of them would see the cameras as an investment, a safety net, and just good law enforcement.

I received a note from GL himself this morning. Apparently, he doesn’t appreciate my reference to him as a “neo-Nazi.” He claims I said he was a member of the KKK and the Nazi party, which I did not. I said HSM had support from members like these, which he does (even if he didn’t WANT that support). The KKK doesn’t support just ANYONE. Obviously, the mission of HSM matches theirs.

I said there was no evidence he was a neo-Nazi.

However, he ACTS like a Nazi.

It’s the same thing as calling someone xenophobic.

I forwarded the email to some friends and have blocked GL from my email. I thought this was the best thing to do, since he blocked me from his site. And he has threatended to put me on some “daily whackjob” site. He wants to call me a whack job. He better watch his step. He’s already made fun of disabilities, religious choices, and gender identification on his site. Some of those, I KNOW are directed at me.

The proof is in the videos. The proof is in his words. The proof is in his “policy.” I don’t NEED any proof to support MY behavior because I know how I act and how I am and so do MANY others.

From here on out, I will not address GL and his hateful, threatening, manipulative mannerisms.

I also wonder why he is writing ME personal emails and targeting me. I never wrote HIM emails or threatened to put him on a “whackjob” site.

First Ammendments really do NOT mean anything to him, do they? He’s a public figure. As far as I know, I am NOT!

As Firedancer pointed out, he is a social bully and I thought all this hullabaloo was to point out problem people living among us? Or does he get to define problem all by his itty bitty self?

Anyway, I had a very nice officer visit me this morning about this whole thing. He spent over an HOUR with me, talking about what the police are and are not doing. He came back with an informational pamphlet. If anyone wants to hear it, the number is 703-792-4750 X1599, Officer P.C. Sunby. He said if he is not there, someone else would be happy to speak with us.

Why are you a problem? Did you call the police or were they sent? Was it about your correspondence with he who shall not be named?

I think he who shall not be named needs a course in anger management. This is incredibly strange. Perhaps he needs to get right with God or something. Obviously this is not Christian behavior. I might not be perfect but I know it when I see it.

Chief Deane has had the opportunity to apply for grants for cameras in police cars for years. Has he applied? No. When grant money is available, PWC citizens should not have to foot the bill.

Did Greg call the police on you? Perhaps I am misreading your post, as you seem to imply/charge that he had. If this is true, I would like to hear more about it. If not, you may want to clarify this, as even Juturna and MH have read this the same way I have. Also, as I have said earlier, continuing to refer to Greg and HSM either directly or indirectly as a “Nazi” “Skin-head” or “KKK” adjunct or other such terms will do nothing to advance the debate on this issue, and could potentially lead to expensive legal entanglements for you and your family.

On the subject of this post, I don’t envy the Chief’s task, but I believe he will approach it in a thoughtful, methodical manner.

Who says grant money is available? I have heard from a reliable source that other major jurisdictions cannot seem to find the free government pork either. If it is out there, hopefully some of the folks who keeps suggesting we use it can find it.

Whether it should have been done years ago or not (and had it been done years ago it would now be outdated and need replacement) is immaterial. We need to cameras now to keep everyone on the up and up. Having them will help avoid lawsuits and unsubstantiated claims from whatever ’side.’

Charlie and Craig have spent million in DHS, and Justice grants on 800mhz radios, portable computers, response equipment, command vehicles, oh yeah and that damn boat. Oh, wait, lest we forget this golden nuggest post when Greg put the picture up of the bull mastif and implied that illegal immigrants would make good dog food:

Well…I’ve had an exciting day. I hear my name is all over a blog that I don’t have access to. So be it. Except that they have my employment wrong, and I don’t think it’s a good idea to involve the schools in his personal problem with me (someone he has never met, by the way)– especially since the quote he uses has NOTHING to do with Prince William County Schools (it has to do with a college that is closing for a variety of not-so-pleasant reasons…you know…THEY are being drummed out of town). If anyone here is related to PWCS, I suggest you ask to have his site shut down since it appears “HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED” has a grudge against teachers and likes to smear them.

In answer to the question about the cops, I had to call the police to make a complaint. The email I received from “HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED” contained phrases like, “…I…am rather impressed with your fertile imagination, although I’d suggest there might be more productive and less risky ways to employ it.” Why risky, I wondered, pre-calling-the-cops.

“I’ve made mistakes in my life, and sometimes a gentle reminder of the values I really want to live by have been all it took for me to set aside my natural tendencies to be combative…” Oh, it makes me feel VERY good to be receiving personal, targeted emails from someone who admits to being naturally “combative.” (If you didn’t know already, this is the second time “HE” has emailed me directly–the first time was awhie ago, though he apparently claims to have never “heard” of me prior to today. I have never emailed him.)

“If you had the opportunity to do all this over again, in some cases might have made different decisions.” Decisions to what? Write an opinion based on fact? I cite my sources, as people on this board ALSO do.

I am sorry that Greg felt the need to go after you. I’m glad the cops came out and took the report. I have spoken to one particular investigator, relaying my concerns about the tone and comments on a particular person’s blog, and they were well aware and seemed to be paying attention to its content. Please keep us informed of any new communications.

I do think it is always best to formally document these situations. You don’t know who else may have filed a report as well and this may contribute to a larger inquiry now and even down the road. You never know.

Also, for your safety it is always wise to do so. Good move Kgotthardt. The more public your “interractions” the safer for you.

Threat level is determined by the recipient not the person that makes the threat.

According to the various fiscal plans and budget committee meetings I’ve read and attended the Police Department has received grants for 35 plus officers, MDC’s for the cars and computerized fingerprinting equipment. As he has said over and over again, camera’s would be great but they’ve never risen higher in his priority than other items. I guess his prioirties includes police officers, fingerprinting and yes a boat.

Shock and awe at these priorities. The county was off the hook for a few years on salaries for new officers.

If you are in Manassas and don’t get out of there much, you don’t venture out to Leesylvania state park on a summer Sunday and notice the many many jet ski’s and boats on the water, or over to Occoquan to check on those many many marinas there and around Belmont Bay.

I amm at a total loss for words to describe what I have witnessed over the past year of what passes as local politics here in PWC.
Coming from a multigenerational family of politicians this experience has been shocking in the complete absence of ethics and integrity. I have observed many badly handled campaigns and causes at various levels of government. This action in PWC and the players wins hands down as the worst I’ve ever seen in the ethics and integrity arena.

On the other issue, if you do decide you want to see what is being written about you on that “other” site, an easy way is to use google advance search to look for your name on the domain, and then use the “cache” button to look at the posts. It only works after a few days, but it is the easiest way to look without having to actually access the original site.

The big advantage for you might be that the other site will never see your IP address access the site, since you will be reading off Google’s cache.

Some day I might right about how Google is in my mind violating copyright by providing complete copies that I can access, but that’s another topic.

I do believe that it is unethical to block a user from a blog, and then to discuss that user. Nothing wrong with blocking, but it’s not nice to facilitate PUBLIC talking behind people’s backs.
